Academic Sponsorships

We believe in supporting academics

We're proud to support academics through partnerships, sponsorships and special events throughout the school year to help the education community achieve excellence.

Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) - Vocational Education
In a continued effort to help the Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) achieve its mission to educate students for careers in the automotive industry, we annually participate in three ATF Sales where high school students sell donated cars they refurbish. The Credit Union's participation helps students build service and sales skills while providing financing options for members wishing to purchase the ATF vehicles.

Read Across America
The Credit Union participates in Read Across America on an annual basis. The program is sponsored by the National Education Association with the goal of building a nation of readers. During the month of March, our employees visit local elementary schools to read to students. In addition, we donate books with a financial literacy theme to classroom libraries and bookmarks to students in the classrooms we visit.

Reading programs with local ballparks
Educational Systems FCU is proud to sponsor the Read and Hit a Home Run program with the Bowie Baysox, the Pinch onto Books programs with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and the Frederick Keys Summer Reading Days. Through partnerships between Educational Systems FCU and local ballparks, elementary school students across the state receive free admission to baseball games by demonstrating their commitment to reading. The Credit Union also sponsors games throughout the summer to celebrate the Most Improved Student, Educator Appreciation, the Summer Reading Program and Academic Achievement.

Spelling Bees
Each year, we sponsor Spelling Bees held in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Howard and Prince George's counties. Spelling Bees challenge middle school students to spell words correctly until the competition is narrowed down to one winner receiving a spot on the Scripps National Spelling Bee held annually in Washington D.C. Each of our local winners receives a prize from the Credit Union.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics)
We proudly sponsor local Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) events held in Anne Arundel, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George's counties each year. We're honored to recognize students for outstanding achievement in selected project categories.

Summer Adventures in Learning
We proudly support the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Retirees Association's Toolkits, Books and Backpacks Project. The project was created in 2003 to help economically disadvantaged students. Each year, the Credit Union donates over 2,500 rulers and 5,000 pencils. The project supports the Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL) program, which is a free four-week summer school program offered at Title I elementary schools to help students.
